What if French Revolution Never Happened!

The Only Chapter That Fought Back!

Most of us would have caught up on last night’s sleep during the history class. Let’s be honest, history wasn’t a subject; it was a battlefield. And no, not because of the wars we studied, but because we were fighting boredom, sleep, and the painfully slow-moving clock. And who can forget those panic-filled nights before exams? When you’re trying to force-feed your brain with dates, revolutions, and emperors. Now, let’s be real. We’ve forgotten all the wars, ideologies and emperors. But there’s one chapter that refuses to leave our heads: The French Revolution.

Liberty, Equality, Fraternity? What's That? Never Heard of Them!

The French Revolution did seem to be a package of boredom, where we had a list full of dates, personalities, events and governmental systems and reforms, but we don’t realise it, this one historical event has changed the course of history forever, and in this article, you are going to witness a world, where the revolution was successfully crushed by the monarchial lords, in a world where the bourbon family wasn’t overthrown and in a world where values like Liberty, Equality and Fraternity would have been just an utopian dream of visinoaries, lets dive into this dystopian world

Let’s Not Play Multiverse Today

Starting on, it’s quite evident that if not France, then surely somewhere else in the world, there would have been an outburst against the cruel monarchy, and democracy would have taken birth in a different country or maybe in a different continent, but the purpose of the article is to explain the importance and the great role of french revolution inshaping history and our current governmental structures, so we will consider that french revolution and all revolutions which succeeded french revolution, where successfully suppressed by the monarchs.

Error 404: Democracy Not Found

The Revolution was a wake-up call, a loud noise which made the deaf hear, it was a warning for the crowns heads worldwide. The French Revolution was the seed of democracy in the vicious garden of monarchy, as we know today, the seed has grown into a whole forest, but in the world without the revolution, the seed was never planted, you and me would be working like animals in the mills or lands of the emperors, succes wouldn’t have dependent on talent but on luck, its not your harwork which decides your fate but your parent’s status and position in the society which will! The society wouldn’t have human rights; The only “right” people would have is the right to be ruled and abused. And the rulers? They would enjoy the right to torture, suppress, and exploit without consequence.

History would have been much different, as we know the French Revolution opened a whole new world of ideas of governance and social reforms, but in a world without the revolution, the rise of great leaders and thinkers like Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Gandhi, Nehru and Ambedkar would have never taken place. We would have more wars to be studied between crowns and endless pages which glorify the rulers and make them sit next to god, in simple words, we would be living in a world which will be similar to the present-day North Korea

Think about Napoleon. Without the revolution, he would have remained a Corsican soldier, not the Emperor who redrew Europe’s map. The Napoleonic Code, which inspired legal systems from Italy to India, might never have existed.

Not Just History, It’s Our Inheritance

Let it be governance, law, social reforms or values, we would have lost it all, we would have been the bonded labour of the lords, they would be making merry in their castles, whereas we will be the ones with a never ending hassle, now lets start seeing history from a new perspective and lets be grateful to our ancestors
